The Travis County Juvenile Probation Facilities Operations consist of Maintenance and Repair, Custodial Services, Food Services, as well as an on-site Warehouse (Shipping and Receiving) Unit. We are considered One Team with multiple functions and responsibilities.
Maintenance and Repairs
The facilities department is in charge of ensuring the optimal condition and functionality of the facility. The department's staff regularly monitor, maintain, and repair the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that regulate the indoor climate and air quality. They also oversee the water supply system, checking the water pressure, temperatures, and equipment to guarantee a steady and safe water flow throughout the campus. The facilities department plays a vital role in providing a comfortable and healthy environment for the facility's occupants and visitors.
Food Services
Our food services department provides healthy and tasty meals for the children we serve. We follow the NSLP guidelines from USDA.gov, which ensure that our meals meet the nutritional standards for different age groups. We also offer dietary menus that suit the needs and preferences of our diverse community. Moreover, we care about the environment and practice composting and recycling to reduce our waste and carbon footprint. Lastly, nutrition consultations are available for anyone who wants to learn more about eating well and staying fit.
Custodial
Our custodians play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for staff and residents. These dedicated individuals are responsible for daily cleaning tasks, ensuring that common areas, cells, and restrooms are sanitized and well-maintained. Beyond cleanliness, the janitorial staff also contribute to the overall well-being of the facility by promptly addressing spills, repairing minor damages, and reporting any safety hazards. Their work helps create a more hygienic and organized space, supporting the rehabilitation and positive development of the young individuals in their care.
Warehouse
The warehouse oversees the shipping and receiving of all packages that come into and leave the facility. The warehouse staff manage essential supplies, equipment, and materials. Their tasks include storage, inventory control, and efficient distribution. Security, safety, and compliance are top priorities. Modern technology and collaboration enhance their effectiveness, supporting our operations .
Security Operations
The Security Operations Division’s primary focus is on safety and security, which are critical to the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department's overall operations and performance plan. To maintain a safe environment, all parties entering the buildings must be screened for contraband and provided a visitor's badge. Monitoring, controlling access, and visibility are utilized to safeguard the safety of youth, employees, and visitors by employing the most secure and efficient security measures feasible.
The Security Operations Division contributes to department-wide vulnerability, risk, and threat assessment and mitigation initiatives.
